How Important is it to Keep Your Cool and Be Calm

Everyone gets angry at some point. We’re all humans and we all have emotions, but how important is it keep them under control?

There are so many situations in life where we just want to explode and throw a tantrum but it that really necessary? Anger is a strong emotion and sometimes it just takes over us and we do things without meaning to. Relationships are broken, friends are betrayed, you lose your trust, all this happens because of our actions in the heat of the moment. So here are some consequences and tips to keeping your cool because lets face it, we seriously need them.

1)  Never ever talk back to someone during an argument:

  • Consequence: This is an extremely common habit we all have but the only thing is that we never think about the consequences of this habit. You say unwanted things, people get hurt and in the end when you calm down, you will definitely regret your actions.
  • Tips:  Always let the other person calm down before talking to them. If you shout to prove your point, they will do the same. Count to ten if it’ll help but let them cool down so that you settle the conflict calmly. There is no winner in an argument.

2)  Never let your brain panic during a test:

  • Consequence: Everyone is tense and stressed during a test but never panic during a test. You will start freaking out, forget what all you studied the previous day and not be able to complete the questions in time.
  • Tips: During this type of situation, always take a minute to calm your self down. Stop writing the paper, drink some water and do not think about the test for a minute. The brain works better when calm rather than under pressure. Take a minute then go back to the question.

3) Do Not Multitask:

  • Consequence: Doing to many things at one time confuses the brain and you stop thinking. When this happens you are definitely going to freak out and get mad and stressed. No work will be done I assure you.
  • Tips: Focus on one thing at a time. Not many people can multitask and whoever can are not good at it. By focusing on thing, your outcome is better and your work gets done faster, This is a tried and tested method studies show. Hey science don’t lie!

4) Don’t Rush….Take it easy: This world is not going to eat you up if you don’t relax. If you have work, do it when you are calm and relaxed. Under stress you’re not going to get it done. This world is not perfect. So many things irritate you but keeping your cool helps rather than expressing you’re feelings.

5) Says yes and accept it: Having Attitude and ego does not help. If you are wrong, then you are wrong. Accept it. By getting angry at someone for pointing out your mistake is a waste of time. However small or big the situation accept it and learn to say yes. This quality will take you quite far in life. Accepting and saying yes will not only make your anger cool down, but will also spare you from your stress.

I find these tips really helpful though I don’t use it all the time. I mean how much ever we try, sometimes we do end up exploding, and do things we are not proud of. I have been in these situations and I am not proud of how I acted. In the end I got fed up and used these tips to calm my self down and actually think before I act. I find them really useful and helpful and to be honest, I escaped some sticky situations.

Always remember to think of the situation you are in and act accordingly. Emotions are strong but you are stronger and know when to express them. Stress and anger really change a person but doing things in the spur of the moment will only end in pain and regret. Comment below if you want to share any method you use to keep your cool!
