Divergent- Book Review

This week I am writing a book review on a very well known and upcoming teenage sensation-Divergent, written by Veronica Roth. It might be a good Christmas present idea?

Synopsis: 91o13sPo7VL._SL1500_

15 year old Beatrice Prior lives with her family in the abnegation region of a futuristic Chicago which is divided into five factions; Abnegation, Dauntless, Erudite, Amity and Candor.  Abnegation values selflessness, Dauntless values bravery, Erudite values intelligence, Amity values peace and kindness and Candor values honesty. Once a child turns sixteen, they need to choose between these five factions determining their choice of life and future.

Beatrice and her brother who just turned 16 take aptitude tests to see which faction they can possibly belong to. It is revealed to her that the results are however inconclusive. While everyone gets one faction which is close to their personality, Beatrice gets three- Dauntless, Abnegation and Erudite. It is then revealed that she is Divergent. On the choosing ceremony, beatrice, who was confused between and Dauntless and Abnegation decides to choose Dauntless and changes her name to Tris as a sign of a new start of a new life. But soon the day comes where Tris has to fight against her own faction in order to save the Abnegation…

Review: Okay, this book is just amazing! The plot, the characters, the theme, just everything about this book makes it engrossing and interesting to read. From the grey robes of the Abnegation to the cute romance between Tris and Tobias, everything about this book is a thumbs up! Set in a futuristic Chicago, the plot revolves around Tris and her decisions and thoughts. The choices she makes, her ideas, her actions, everything decides her fate and her final destination. This is a must read book which will not only make you sit up every night reading, but will leave you asking for more. This book is available in our school library so check it out ASAP!

P.S. The next two books in this series have already come out

Note for the readers: If you liked the Hunger Games, This book is definitely for you!
